Taipei’s club scene has changed names many times over the past decade, but its centre of gravity has never left Xinyi. Between Songshou Road and the ATT 4 FUN building sits the densest cluster of dance floors in the city. First-timers usually get stuck on three questions: how much, what to wear, and how to plan the night. Here are all three answers.
Budget: NT$1,500–2,500 keeps you comfortable
Entry with a drink runs NT$600–1,200, climbing on weekends and event nights. Tables are another tier entirely — bottle minimums start in the thousands and only make sense split between friends. For a first night, carry NT$1,500–2,500 and you won’t be counting notes between songs.
One insider note: many clubs discount weekday or pre-midnight entry — follow their socials. And Thursday night is the connoisseur’s slot: the energy is there, the crowd isn’t yet.
Dress code: don’t let a pair of sandals end the night
Doors in Xinyi do check. Flip-flops and shorts are near-automatic rejections, and men get the stricter eye. The safe formula is smart casual — collared shirt or plain tee, trousers, clean shoes. For women the rules are looser; just rule out anything beach-bound.

The route: eat, warm up, enter at midnight
Clubs open at nine, but the floor is cold before midnight. Locals run a three-act night:
- Nine o’clock, eat properly. Around MRT Taipei City Hall you’ll find solid bistros on Zhongxiao East Road Section 5 — line your stomach before you drink.
- Ten thirty, one warm-up round. Drift toward Songshou Road, pick a bar, and scout which club has the queue tonight.
- Eleven thirty, walk in. The floor peaks from midnight to 2 a.m. — you’ll arrive exactly on time.

Last thing, and the most important: if you drank, don’t drive. Taxis, ride-hailing and designated drivers are all easy in Xinyi. Leave the car overnight and collect it tomorrow — end the night as well as you started it.
