Most hide in the lanes between Zhongxiao Dunhua and Xinyi Anhe, behind bookcases, fridge doors or phone booths. Book ahead.
How is Da'an different from Xinyi for bars?
Da'an wins on cocktail quality and privacy at similar prices; Xinyi is where the clubs and skyline bars are.
Is Da'an good for dates?
Very. Lane bars are intimate and quiet enough to talk — widely considered Taipei's best date-night district.
Do Daan bistros need reservations?
Book popular spots two to three days ahead. The famous lane bars fill up Friday–Saturday; weekday walk-ins are much easier.
What's the price range in Daan?
Cocktails NT$350–500, bistro dinners NT$800–1,500 per person. Gentler than Xinyi, and the Shida end is cheaper still.
When is the last MRT train?
Around midnight on weekdays, varying by line. Zhongxiao Fuxing and Zhongxiao Dunhua are interchange stations; miss the last train and a taxi back downtown is usually under NT$200.
Is night parking easy in Daan?
Not in the lanes. Lots cluster along Zhongxiao East Road and Daan Road at NT$40–80/hour; red-line towing is aggressive, so don't risk it.
